ABOUT THE PINETOP PERKINS FOUNDATION
Pinetop Perkins was one of the last great Mississippi bluesmen.
He began playing blues around 1927 and is widely regarded as one of
the best blues pianists. He passed away on March 21, 2011 at
the age of 97.
The primary mission of The Pinetop Perkins Foundation is to provide encouragement and support for youth and young people at the beginning of their musical career; and help provide care and safety for elderly musicians at the twilight of their career.
The Foundation is a tax exempt non-profit organization. Donations to the Foundation will go towards scholarships to enable youth to attend the MasterClass Workshops held annually in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

PERKINS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR 2013
WORKSHOPS
A variety of scholarships will once again be
available for youth aged 12 to 21 to attend the MasterClass Workshops in
2013. The Workshops will be held at The Shack Up Inn and Hopson
Plantation in Clarksdale, MS from June 12-14, 2013. The event will
present harmonica, piano and guitar workshops led by top recording
artists --- Gary Allegretto, Daryl Davis and Bob Margolin.
In addition to regular scholarships, we are pleased to be able to offer
the following special memorial scholarships:
Nick Faigin Memorial Scholarship for guitar
Two Ann Rabson Memorial Scholarships for piano
The Honeyboy Edwards Memorial Scholarship
Regular scholarships cover registration and full to partial lodging.
The deadline for scholarship applications is April 15, 2013.
The workshops are open to everyone -- Adults and youth. There is
NO deadline for adult registration for the workshops.

2013 MASTERCLASS
WORKSHOP DATES and INFORMATION
The Pinetop Perkins Foundation announces it's
fourth Blues Masterclass workshops for young and young-at-heart
adult musicians. The classes will be held at the Shack Up Inn and
Hopson Commissary in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where the youthful
spirit of Pinetop (1913-2011) smiles on us.
The event takes place from June 12-14, 2013 and offers piano, guitar
and harmonica workshops.
